1925

The PAUL success story began in 1925 when Max Paul installed a mechanical workshop in his father's house in Dürmentingen. He also operated a braided straw rope and seaweed spinning mill, a bicycle and sewing machine business and the municipal laundry. It was here that Max Paul also started production of special machines for the production of whips. Max Paul was the founder and the managing director from 1925 up to 1960.

1945

After World War 2, his two sons, Odilo and Berthold, came into the business. In 1948, they developed and built together the first double-edging circular saw, which became an immediate success.

1950

The 50's were a signal for expansion: At the beginning of the 50's, the production range was expanded by other woodworking machines.

1954-1959

First machines and accessories were built for the different processes in the production of prestressed concrete. The second division was born: The Prestressed Concrete Technology

In 1959 PAUL delivered the first single-wire stressing jack for the production of HP roof shells with the then revolutionary two-button operation, and, with this development, laid the foundation stone of a successful future.

1960-1970

In 1965, PAUL employed 120 people on a production area of 4500 square meters. In 1960, the prestressing system TENSA SM was developed. In 1970 the first multi-stressing jack TENSA M was built.

In 1966, the first manual cross-cut saw was built. In 1970, the heavy-duty circular edger S1200 was finished.

1975

Paul steadily enlarged its factory area in Dürmentingen and, at the end of the 70´s moved a part of it´s production to Riedlingen, where manufacturing still takes place today. In 1975, both factories employed 180 people on a production area of 11500 square meters.

1982-1985

In 1982, the first stressing jack for cable-stayed bridges was developed. During this year, the successful CNC cross-cut system model 12 began its triumphant progress. In 1985, both factories employed from now on 210 people on a production area of 17500 square meters.

1994-1995

In 1995, Paul employed 245 people in both factories. The production area was 21000 square meters.

1997

Since 1997, PAUL has been involved with its own developed prestressing technology in reconstruction of the "Frauenkirche" Dresden. On 30th October 2005 the "Frauenkirche" Dresden was declared officially open by a solemn consecration [more].

1998

The automation increases and in 1998 the first automatic mounting equipment for railway sleepers was developed.


1998

A new machine concept "PushCut" has been developed. Here the timber is no longer fed by means of rollers, but positioned using a pusher. The advantages are: particularly high accuracy - cutting in packs - favourable price - easy operation even with very small numbers of pieces.

1999

In the 90's that the parent plant in Dürmentingen was no longer adequate for meeting the demands of the market in a suitable manner: Paul recognised the signs and, in 1999, started building a new factory in the Dürmentingen industrial zone.


2000

The Paul Company is celebrating its 75th. Company Jubilee. The General Manager of Paul, Werner Paul received the IHK Ulm Jubilee Diploma from IHK General Manager Otto Sälzle. The celebration was held in the headquater in Dürmentingen with invited guests and company employees. [more]

2002

The new design of the optimizing CNC cross-cut system Push_Cut_CX was finished in summer 2002. The cross-cut system supersedes the previous model PushCut.

2002

Graduate business engineer Werner Paul, General Manager of Paul Maschinenfabrik in Dürmentingen received the economy medal for his company from the State Minister for economic affairs Walter Döring on 3rd December 2002.
The Minister for economic affairs awards the medal in recognition of outstanding professional or business achievements and in appreciation of special services to the economy of the state. "Business personalities like the bearer of the economy medal make the greatest contribution to the innovative climate and the economical success of our state when compared to the other states. The esteemed business executives have shown courage, sense of responsibility and readiness to take risks in the past", extolled the Minister in his eulogy.

2003

The optimizing CNC cross-cut system model 14 gets a new design and is henceforth successfully marketed under the name C14.
PAUL reacts to the demands of the global networking with a new control generation MAXI 5. It runs under the LINUX operating system. A new EDP age begins.

2004

Senior managing director Odilo Paul passed away after a long illness on 24th March 2004.
The company produces with an annual turnover of 23 million Euros and a constant number of employees of 260.

2005

The first tests with the CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) material are carried out in prestressed concrete technology. CFRP is not only used as a stressing material, but also for building the multi-strand stressing jacks. The material is capable of transmitting a lot of force with a low weight and does not corrode. An innovation in prestressed concrete technology has been created.

2006

On 24th March 2006 the ceremony for the establishment of the Odilo Paul foundation took place. The foundation takes care of the welfare of the people living in the municipality of Dürmentingen.
The prestressed concrete department successfully used the CFRP material for the first time for an elevated highway in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
