PAUL Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co., Dürmentingen
The Paul Company in Dürmentingen is celebrating its 75th. Company Jubilee. In 1925 Max Paul established an engineering workshop. Originally he operated a business dealing in braided straw rope and seaweed spinning as well as bicycles and sewing machines. Together with his sons Odilo and Berthold, he developed and built the first double-edging circular saw in 1948.
The production programme was enlarged to include woodworking machines. Equipment and installations for the production of prestressed concrete were added. Today, world-wide, the name Paul stands for woodworking machines and installations and is the market leader in equipment for prestressed concrete construction. The export share is regularly above 70%. At present the company employs 270 staff plus 30 apprentices. In the jubilee year a new factory in the Dürmentingen industrial zone constitutes the crowning point of the company’s history up to now. (Schi)
